What if we told you – we have some fantastic programs for our Downtowners? And we’re not talking about the fabulous shopping. Or delicious dining. Or even our popular events like Alive After Five or Pack Pride Weekends. Ok ok, you get the drift. Downtown Jonesboro is awesome!
Opening up a new business (or re-locating one that’s been established for ten years) is a scary thing. There are a million things you have to get accomplished, and normally by some crazy short deadline. BUT–what if you had someone who could help you implement a new look for your business, exterior speaking. They come in, take a look at your branding, the building, and in a matter of weeks, you have a rendering for a completely new and fresh look for your space. We’re talking awnings, signage, lighting recommendations, even paint!
Sound too good to be true? It’s not – not in downtown Jonesboro.
The Downtown Façade Grant is offered by the Downtown Jonesboro Association, a Main Street Arkansas community. Back in the spring of 2014, the DJA board of directors recognized a need to develop a program to assist business and property owners for improving their facades by tuck pointing, paint, new awnings, exterior lighting, etc., and strengthening the look of our streetscapes. It is known that a vibrant downtown can bring big benefits to our local community (including purchasing materials for each project right here in Jonesboro!), and our grant program does just that. Did we mention last year that the Downtown Jonesboro Facade Grant alone reinvested almost $36,000 back into our local economy through paint purchases, sign designs, even hiring local contractors to help implement each project. How awesome that our grant program not only brings a new story to the heart of our community, but it provides jobs as well!
This annual grant opportunity, with a total allotment of $5,000 provided from the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, is offered to Downtown Jonesboro property owners who desire to make improvements to the façade of their buildings and wish to preserve the historical and architectural value of our Downtown culture. This year’s grantees included some amazing facade work from Stanley + Woodard Law Firm, Parsonage 322, and Occasions Publishing Group!
Our DJA Design Committee works with individuals to suggest recommendations and help them achieve the best look for their Main Street business.
